Disruption continues after stormy weekend

Train services on a number of routes in Scotland, Wales and northern England are still suspended this morning, as engineers continue to repair damage caused over the weekend by Storm Boelo.
Some other lines have reduced services.
On Northern, trains are not calling at Blyth Bebside or Northumberland Park, while some trains are not calling at New Pudsey, Weeton or Headingley. Between Hull and Halifax, services are still being cut short at Bradford Interchange, although Halifax is being served by other trains.
Services are also reduced between Blackburn and Rochdale via Bolton and Manchester Victoria.
Services have been restored on most ScotRail routes, but there are still no trains between Crianlarich and Oban, nor on the Far North line between Inverness, Wick and Thurso.
North Wales was also badly affected by the high winds and torrential rain, and there are no trains on the Heart of Wales line between Swansea and Shrewsbury, nor between Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and Shrewsbury, where floods are still a problem. Meanwhile, trains on the Cambrian Coast line are running only between Tywyn and Pwllheli, because of a shortage of rolling stock.
The Conwy Valley line to Blaenau Ffestiniog is also still closed, while engineers check the infrastructure.
Network Rail Scotland route director Gary Hopkirk said: ‘It’s been a really challenging weekend for Scotland’s Railway and particularly for the teams who’ve been out in some very difficult conditions responding to whatever the weather has thrown at us. Our focus throughout has been on keeping people safe and trains moving wherever possible.
‘Now the worst of the weather has passed, our attention is on getting the railway back to normal. We’ll be working as quickly as we can, but we won’t compromise on safety. We know disruption is frustrating and we really appreciate the patience people have shown this weekend while our teams do everything they can to get everyone moving again.’
