And here’s how to do the Darlington Hustle...

Disco heroes: from left: Bernie Inns, Camp David, Brutus Gold and Chad Valley strut their stuff at Darlington.
THERE was a shock outbreak of Saturday Night Fever at Darlington station when legendary ‘70s DJ Brutus Gold and his entourage of foot-stomping sidekicks arrived on the National Express East Coast ‘Love Train’ to teach passengers the disco hustle.
Travellers could have been forgiven for thinking they’d fallen asleep and woken up in an episode of ‘Life On Mars’, the BBC series about a man who time-travels back to the era of David Bowie and the BeeGees.
In fact, medallion-man Brutus and backing dancers ‘Bernie Inns’, ‘Camp David’ and ‘Chad Valley’ were previewing his new monthly series of shows that are expected to pack Newcastle’s Carling Academy. Their demonstrations of hot disco moves certainly raised eyebrows and temperatures as laughing travellers joined in the impromptu dance session.
NXEC media relations manager John Gelson said: “Everyone enjoyed Brutus’ disco class, which helped us promote leisure travel to Newcastle. Definitely a case of ‘platforms’ on the platform!”
