Arcapita acquire Freightliner

Freightliner Group Ltd has been acquired from owners 3i, Electra Private Equity and Freightliner management and staff by Arcapita, an international investment firm based in Bahrain, subject to clearance by the European
Commission.
3i and Electra were the founder majority shareholders of Freightliner at privatisation in 1996, which during their ownership expanded to include bulk freight haulage and became largest hauler of maritime containers in the UK.
Also, it moved into Europe with an operational subsidiary in Poland and increased staff from 1,095 to 1,828.
While change of ownership will ensure continued development of its businesses and enhancement of international activities, little change will be made to staffing and all contractual relationships and pension arrangements will remain unchanged.
Freightliner Group Ltd. Chief executive Eddie Fitzsimons said: “I see this as the next stage in the development of Freightliner. 3i and Electra have been very supportive partners, enabling the business to grow into the market leader it is today.”

Now the vast majority of British railfreight is foreign owned, not only that but indirectly owned by foreign governments. Look how the foreign owned power companies raised prices by an astronomical amount to the British public but not their own countries. The previous letter has it right nobody does anything for nothing.

Now if the new owners buy Freightliner surely they want a return on this and Freighliners charges will have to reflect this.
