December CrossCountry strikes called off

Strikes which had been called by the RMT on CrossCountry on all four Saturdays in December have been called off, after the union said its dispute over rest day working had been ‘resolved’.
Near-normal services can now be provided, although engineering work in the East Midlands on 6 December will mean longer journeys between Derby, north east England and Scotland. These journeys are expected to take up to an hour longer than usual.
CrossCountry managing director Shiona Rolfe said: ‘We are pleased that RMT has called off planned strike action throughout December, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board to take them into the festive season. We aim to run our normal timetable on Saturday, but the short time available to reinstate services means there may be some short-notice cancellations.
‘Engineering work on parts of the network will still mean some changes to journeys – if you’re planning to travel, please check your journey before setting off.’
No details of the settlement have been given.
