Train stabbings: man charged

A 32-year old man
from Peterborough will appear before the town’s magistrates this morning to face 10 counts of attempted murder in connection with the stabbings on board an LNER train from Doncaster to London on Saturday evening.

Anthony Williams, of Langford Road in Peterborough, is charged with ten counts of attempted murder, one count of Actual Bodily Harm, and one count of possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident.

He is also charged with another count of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in connection to an incident at a Docklands Light Railway station on 1 November.

It is understood the charge of causing actual bodily harm is in connection with an alleged assault on a police officer after he had been arrested at Huntingdon station.

The further count of attempted murder is in connection with an incident in London in the early hours of Saturday. It is understood that a person received facial injuries after being attacked with a knife at Pontoon Dock DLR station at 00.46.
