Plans to go in for new station

A REVISED planning application for a new station in the south western outskirts of Exeter is to be submitted by Devon County Council in the New Year. A previous proposal for the station at Marsh Barton failed after changes to design specifications caused costs to rise, and a bid for support from the Department for Transport’s New Stations Fund was refused. Access to the station has now been redesigned. If it is successful, Marsh Barton will be the third station to open in the Exeter area over the past decade. Cranbrook and Newcourt were both opened in 2015.
