Corporate Express and Gore Workwear showcase their PPE together for the first time at Railtex

Corporate Express became part of the global office supply chain Staples in 2008 and since then has been providing its customers with a single source for all business needs and tailoring their product offering to meet specific needs within specific sectors.

This could not be truer than in the railway sector where Corporate Express works closely with the workwear division within W. L. Gore and Associates (UK) Ltd to supply the rail industry with quality hi-visibility, foul weather protective clothing.

In the current difficult economic climate it has never been more important to source and supply quality products which guarantee workforce safety and comfort and which have durability and longevity.

Alan Robertson from Corporate Express explains ‘We only work with suppliers and manufacturers who adhere to exacting production standards, quality control and high specification testing.  Simply put, we don’t and won’t cut corners to cut costs in PPE.   Our garments are manufactured to the highest quality and comply with the European directive on Personal Protection Equipment’.

Visitors to the stand can view high visibility and wet weather clothing made from three layer hi-visibility GORE-TEX® fabrics.  These garments not only offer complete breathable and waterproof protection from the elements but also comply with EN471 Class 1 for high visibility and EN 343 Class 3 for water penetration and breathability.

The key ingredient behind GORE fabrics is expanded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) which is one of the most thermally resistant plastics in existence.  It withstands temperatures ranging from –250 to +260° C, is water repellent and resistant against acids, alkaline solutions and most solvents.  It is hydrophobic (water hating) and is also oleophobic (oil hating) yet allows moisture vapour to pass through at a high rate while acting as a physical barrier that prevents the penetration of external substances.  Water can not penetrate the membrane because it is made up of millions of micropores which are too small to allow a water droplet to pass through.  The result is the wearer stays dry, warm and comfortable.
