Railway Benefit Fund Celebrates Third Scottish Dinner

The Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) is announcing its third annual fundraising Scottish Railway Dinner with guest of honour Stewart Stevenson, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change, and after dinner speaker renowned Scottish referee, Willie Young. The event is being held on Friday 28 August, 2009, at the Glasgow Science Centre.

In 2008 the event raised £16,000, helping to support rail workers, active or retired, and their families. This year the event will be an evening of celebration, entertainment and fundraising, uniting the Scottish community and bringing together friends from across the industry.

David Allen, chairman of the RBF, says: “The dinner is a great fundraising opportunity and a really fun evening. Since last year’s event we have helped over 700 families and given out grants totaling nearly £500,000, which has made a real difference to rail workers and their families. We’re hoping for another successful turnout this year so that we can continue to make a difference.”

Guests at the event will experience a hands-on reception with science experiments, a flame show and audience participation, followed by dinner in the Atrium. To finish off the evening guests will be invited to take part in ceilidh dancing with music from the popular Glasgow band, Blaze in the Bothy.

The Railway Benefit Fund third annual Scottish dinner will be held at the Glasgow Science Centre, 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow, G51 1EA from 6.30pm on Friday 28 August, 2009. The dress code is lounge suits.
