AT the suggestion of Preston-based Virgin train manager Colin Carlisle, the company is to sponsor a tree to mark each month’s construction of the town’s new multi-storey station car park which began in June and is set to be completed next April.

The first was planted in Haslam Park on Friday 18 July in a ceremony attended by Virgin group station manager north Sue Howarth, Colin and
friends of Haslam Park.

The new car park will provide space for 939 vehicles, an additional 469 for the station.
