Tube strike cancelled

The planned strike by the RMT and TSSA for April 6-9 has been called off following talks between the unions and Transport for London.
The unions had balloted on strike action, stating that LUL's plans for ticket-office closures, de-staffing, lone working, introduction of 'mobile supervisors', use of agency and security staff and other disputed policies amounted to "an unacceptable attack on safety standards and the casualisation of safety-critical work".
Tracey O’Brien from Transport for London said that they were happy that the strike had been called off.
"There were never any issues of safety or staff cuts and all the issues concerning the trade unions were already being addressed.
"All stations will remain fully staffed during opening hours."
She added no ticket offices would close while a working party looks at ticketing problems.
