Several people reported injured as mixer hits train

SEVERAL people are reported to have been hurt after a cement mixer plunged on to a railway line in Surrey and struck a South West Trains unit.

The mixer landed on the 1505 service from Guildford to London Waterloo in Oxshott.

The lorry driver is reported to be seriously hurt, and two people on the train have required medical attention.

British Transport Police said 36 passengers were on the train, four of whom were injured to some degree.

The lorry struck the fourth vehicle of the eight-car train, damaging the roof.

Network Rail said there were no reports of fatalities.
