‘Largest ever’ departures screen goes live in London

THE ‘largest and clearest’ single passenger information display screen in Britain has been switched on at London Victoria.

The display, showing the next fastest train to 60 destinations, measures 5m by 2.5m. It has been installed above the metro concourse. In future the display could be programmed to show animations and videos.

Older passenger information displays consisted of multiple panels and relied on earlier LED technology which limited the size and the type of information that could be shown.

Network Rail Southern region managing directorJohn Halsall said: ‘Accurate, real-time, and easy-to-understand information is key to putting our passengers first.

‘We’re really happy to see the introduction of this new technology at London Victoria which, in its prominent position, will provide passengers with even more useful information to help them make more informed decisions about their journey.’
