Work on new Thameslink station moves forward

DEVELOPMENT of a new Thameslink station between London and St Albans has taken another step, with the appointment of an engineering consultancy to work on the project. Main contractor Volker Fitzpatrick has named WSP as its choice to produce the multidisciplinary design of Brent Cross West, which is connected with the regeneration of the Cricklewood area and the building of up to 7,500 houses. WSP will now be working with architects Chapman Taylor on the £40 million scheme. It is expected that Brent Cross West will open in the spring of 2022, with trains calling up to every seven or eight minutes during the peaks.
