Redundant train catering food helps those in need

FOOD worth £5,000 has been donated by TransPennine Express and supplier Rail Gourmet to organisations which help people in need. The food has become surplus because catering services on board trains have been suspended. The organisations to benefit include The Parkland Hotel in Manchester, which looks after homeless men, and nearby Wellspring Community Church in Moston. The church received £1,000 worth of stock to be included in food packages for those most in need. Emma Teale of TPE said: ‘Rather than letting the perishable stock that we have go to waste, we have worked with our catering partner Rail Gourmet to distribute food and drinks to charitable organisations across the whole of our network.’
