Derailment causes Scottish disruption

THE DERAILMENT of a CrossCountry train in Scotland is causing disruption to rail services on the eastern side of the country.
The Rail Accident Investigation branch has launched an inquiry into how the front wheels of the 08.04 from Edinburgh to Aberdeen left the rails yesterday morning at Inverkeilor, between Arbroath and Montrose.
The train was reported to be carrying 38 people, including two staff, and no one was hurt.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but it has resulted in extensive disruption to Scottish services.
Buses are replacing trains between Dundee and Montrose. ScotRail and CrossCountry services from the central belt are terminating at Dundee, and a special rail shuttle service is running between Aberdeen and Montrose.
East Coast services between London Kings Cross and Aberdeen are terminating at Edinburgh Waverley.
The problems are expected to continue for the rest of Monday.
