West Coast Main Line blocked by derailment

Only local services starting at Tring or Watford are running to Euston

THERE ARE no main line trains to London Euston this morning, after the derailment of a light locomotive at Bletchley.

The driver of the Freightliner locomotive is reported to have needed hospital treatment after the incident, which occurred shortly before 02.30 this morning at Bletchley South Junction.

The locomotive is upright but some damage was caused to the track, and it is not thought that the line will be reopened until later today.

Thousands of passengers are facing long delays, and are being advised to use other routes where they can.

Virgin Trains from the north west and Scotland are not running south of Milton Keynes. VT services from Wolverhampton and Birmingham are terminating at Rugby.

Most London Midland services from the West Midlands are terminating at Northampton, although a local shuttle is now running between Northampton, Wolverton and Milton Keynes.

A special half-hourly service is being operated by Virgin between Euston and Tring, calling at principal stations.

Southern services from South Croydon to Milton Keynes Central are terminating at Watford Junction.

Local London Overground services from Watford Junction to Euston and Bakerloo Line services from Harrow & Wealdstone to central London are running normally.
