We're on the lookout for a Sales Station Host for Haddenham & Thame Parkway Station. You'll be responsible for responding to the demands of customer needs and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and presentation at your station. For the most part, you'll be in the booking office but will have responsibility for the whole station including the car park.

You'll be providing general assistance to customers including disabled assistance, route information, and ticket sales. A positive, customer-focused approach is a must for this role.

Responsibilities

You'll be accountable for:

  • Undertaking the sale of all Chiltern Railways and National Rail products and services from all available ticket issuing systems

  • Delivering consistently high standards of proactive and reactive customer care both inside and outside of the booking office and remain highly visible at all times

  • Taking responsibility for management and operation of ticket gates

  • Supplementing the automated announcing system with live local announcements to ensure customers are kept informed of train running alterations

  • Taking responsibility for being the point of contact for issues relating to the car park in the absence of an attendant or nominated security

  • Carrying out all tasks to comply with Cash regulations and Office Security procedures

  • Performing all duties required to obtain a shift balance incorporating all documentation as instructed

  • Ensuring all accounting documentation is completed accurately and following set procedures

  • Reading all notices, instructions, and circulars and adhering to all instructions

  • Maintaining knowledge and understanding of booking office publications contained within the office computer system

  • Keeping leaflet displays stocked with suitable leaflets and poster sites to be presented to a high standard

  • Maintaining an account for all self-service ticket systems in line with policy

  • Keeping a record of all refunds and pay out authorised refunds when necessary

  • Ordering stationery and ticket stock through the Customer Service Manager

  • Ensuring locked stock items are recorded in the locked stock register

  • Assisting in training / have staff shadow you as appropriate

  • Collecting change from bank or arranging delivery as appropriate

  • Taking responsibility for the overall appearance and cleanliness of the ticket office to ensure that it is maintained to the highest standard

  • Carrying out cleaning duties to maintain the overall appearance of the station and car park to the highest standards.

  • Ensuring winter weather plan treatment is carried out

  • Representing Chiltern to the highest possible standard at all times including personal presentation and customer care 

  • Assisting as, and where, required.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grades A - C in English and Maths

  • Previous experience working with customers

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills

  • Basic accounting and cash handling knowledge

  • Ability to deal with conflict situations

  • Good communicator skills 

  • Passionate about providing good customer service

  • Smart personal appearance
