Isle of Man Railways within the Department of Infrastructure are seeking experienced railway engineering managers to join the heritage railway engineering management team and assist in managing the maintenance of the Isle of Man Steam, Manx Electric, Snaefell Mountain Railways and Douglas Bay Horse Tramway to allow safe and effective railway operations.

Isle of Man Railways are seeking two experienced railway engineering managers to join the Traction and Rolling Stock engineering management team and assist in managing the maintenance of the heritage locos, carriages, trams, trailers and engineering vehicles.

The post holders will work with the Traction and Rolling Stock Manager and team of approx. 35 staff, with an annual maintenance budget of over £1m.

Applicants must hold an appropriate professional qualification in an engineering or safety discipline and have either 3 years’ experience in supervising or managing traction or rolling stock engineering within a railway / tramway system or 4 years’ experience in supervising or managing engineering work in a comparable safety critical environment (e.g. fleet management, utilities, etc).

The Assistant Traction and Rolling Stock Manager will be focusing on managing the delivery of the day-to-day maintenance and overhaul works of the in-house staff and contractors and have line management responsibility for most in-house Rolling Stock staff.

The Assistant Traction & Rolling Stock Manager – Technical – will focus on developing the technical aspects of the Traction & Rolling Stock assets and manage some of the heavy maintenance and overhaul projects.
