This unique accommodation provides an excellent base from which to explore North Yorkshire’s countryside, coast and attractions.

 

Allerston is situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and Dalby Forest, just 12 miles from the coast.

 

The attractive market town of Pickering, home of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, is only 5 miles away.

 

The three carriages, all ex BR Mk2 First Class Corridor stock, were built in Derby during 1968-9. They are now exceptionally well equipped for self catering, having undergone a comprehensive conversion. Each carriage has central heating and air extract system throughout; oven, hob, microwave and fridge, (freezer available in ‘Staff Tool Van’); TV, VCR, DVD and radio; bath with shower attachment.

 

The carriages stand in train formation but are not interconnected. You book a self contained carriage providing kitchen/diner, lounge, 2 or 3 bedrooms and bathroom/wc.

 

All bed linen, towels and tea towels re provided. Clothes washing and drying facilities are freely available in the ‘Staff Tool Van’. Cots and high chairs can be provided on request, at no extra charge.

 

There are two acres of grounds providing space for children to play, with open countryside beyond. Each carriage has a picnic table and BBQ’s are available. There is a selection of children’s toys, games and bicycles.

 

The proprietors are on hand in the station house if advice or information is required.

 

The 16 mile Forge Valley Line was opened by the North Eastern Railway Co. on the 1st May 1882. Wilton Station, (actually located in the nearby village of Allerston), was re-named Ebberston in 1903, The village of Ebberston is located 1 mile to the east of Allerston. The last passenger train on the line ran on the 3rd June 1950.

 

How to find us

The village of Allerston is located off the A170, 5 miles east of the market town of Pickering. Leave Pickering and head towards Scarborough. Pass through Thornton le Dale and then Wilton. 1 mile past Wilton, with The Cayley Arms on your left, turn right, off the A170 into Allerston. Proceed for 0.6 of a mile through the village. The Old Station is on the right.

 

Nearest railway stations are Malton and Scarborough. Allerston benefits from a regular bus service.
