Manchester's Metrolink tram routes have reopened after a summer of disruption caused by their £100 million upgrade.
Completion of improvements on the Manchester to Bury section was the final stage of a project that had left passengers relying on buses – and on the Altrincham to Manchester railway line – as a replacement service on the route for over three months.
The Altrincham route reopened at the end of August, and the link to Bury started again on 12 September.
Further improvements to Metrolink are due next year when eight new trams will be introduced, and the present fleet is due to undergo major refurbishment.
Tram stop ticket machines will also be replaced with new versions that have credit card readers and note changers.
