Underground strike called off

A STRIKE by London Underground drivers on the Piccadilly Line was called off after Aslef accepted a new offer from LU.

However, members of the RMT who work at a major Underground control centre are still due to strike between 1 and 4 July. More action short of a strike could also follow for seven days from 8 July.

London Underground welcomed the settlement with Aslef, and said contingency plans were being prepared if RMT staff did walk out. The centre which would be affected controls the Piccadilly tube and also the subsurface lines, which include the Metropolitan and Circle.
